The Jake & Friends story all started with a hat a friend sent me and I was immediately hooked on Life is good. My family and I were living in Orlando, Fl at the time and I found what Life is good calls a “Genuine Neighborhood Shoppe” near us and I loved going there! I accumulated quite a collection!
We then moved to Richmond, about 3 years ago. However, there was no “Genuine Neighborhood Shoppe” – I then began my journey. From contacting Life is good, meeting with the territory sales representative, flying to Boston (the headquarters), to meeting with the General Manager of all Genuine Neighborhood Shoppes to getting final approval to finding the perfect location, it was truly a learning experience and very fulfilling beginning to my journey.
Most “Genuine Neighborhood Shoppes” have their own names so after giving it a lot of thought, I decided the appropriate name of my store in Richmond should be Jake & Friends. Jake – for the main character of Life is good. Friends – for all the friends who helped me along my journey to open my store.
On November 17, 2009, Jake & Friends officially opened in Richmond. I am truly thankful for all the help and support of my family, friends and customers.
